You Hypocrite!

As a follow of Jesus, you ever been called a hypocrite?
Me.. I sure have. Many times and I’m sure many more times to come..
Although, if I am really honest with myself .. it’s true.
Seems I see this alot lately… As Jesus freaks we seem to be developing this attitude of “I’m better then anyone who isn’t a Christian”. We stick our noses up, point our mighty finger.. and say “Sinner.. Repent”.
Dude..that’s so totally jacked-up! We’re a mess …why can’t we just admit it?
While we’re pointing our finger, the world is just biding it’s time… for the moment that you slip up…
for the moment they can pronounce that your a stinking hypocrite.
You stand there in judgment on me and then you turn around and divorce your wife, cuss spit and yell… are unkind, unforgiving, prideful, arrogant.. shall I go on?
Wouldn’t it be better to call from the street corner saying… Hey, I’m a Christian Hypocrite, my life is a mess too. I’m really no better in my words and deeds then you. I do try to live as Jesus has commanded me, but so many many times I fail. maybe that makes me a hypocrite, but I’m ok with it. God isn’t finished with me.
Do you ever wonder what the impact on the world would be if we were honest with ourselves and even more so with others. Could you just imagine being vulnerable… scary huh?
The church is still the bride of Christ. She may have holes in her dress, stains on her shoes, & smeared makeup, but she is still the bride.
Don’t you think that would open more doors to share the hope that lies within us?

David,
I liked what you had to say except for this: Jesus is coming for a bride without spot or wrinkle, so what do we do about the holes in the dress or smears on her shoes? It’s true – we cannot present ourselves spotless on our own. Praise the Lord, He will see us only covered by the Blood! So while we don’t do anyone any favors by pretending that we are perfect, the fact remains – when Christ sees us, He does see us without spot or wrinkle.

Thanks so much for that Alison!
“so what do we do about the holes in the dress or smears on her shoes?” … Each moment we need to return to the cross in repentance, remembering that it is truly all about Him.
and You are so right on.. I think I let my rant get the best of me…. Praise the Lord that will see us only covered by the Blood!
Thanks for keeping me on track
