Kickin off the Rock & Worship Roadshow was Sidewalk Prophets. They were billed (and Remedy Drive) as pre-show acts, but I think they should have been part of the official line up.. because they did “Bring It!” It was a great set to open the evening.

For every set the lighting was pretty good, especially as the “official” lineup of bands started coming out to do their sets. This was due to the fact that every show on this tour was broadcast live on the net for FREE (by the amazing mr. Brody Harper, video guy extraordinaire). You also have to hand it to the lighting designer as they were able to give the video guys the light they needed at the same time keep it visually creative. They used a couple of spots to hit the performers on the front of the stage, as well as 4 individual trusses from the roof to bring in the back-lighting and some other side lighting to fill in the holes.

Shooters Notebook
Since the lighting was pretty good I was able to stick around ISO 800, it nice because that were my D80 performs the best. I had both my Nikon 80-200 2.8 and Tamron 17-50 f2.8 but I leaned towards 17-50 for almost the whole night. This was for a couple reasons, the artists were close enough to the front of the stage so I could get the coverage that I wanted. The 80-200 I thought was a little too close for this one though I did use it a bit. The other reason was that it seemed the 3 song rule was moving faster then I thought and with only one camera body it takes too much time to switch. (I really need to get a second body). And finally I’ve been watching this others guys work.. Brad Moore, he gets amazing shots with his wide angles so I wanted to play a little and see what I could get.
