Matt Maher followed Audrey Assad on Jars of Clay’s The Shelter tour adding his blend of thought provoking themes around the meaning of life and the mystery of death to the evenings music.

Shooters Notebook:
All I can say is backlight & sidelight, backlight & sidelight, backlight & sidelight, backlight & sidelight…. the kind that will kill an image’s contrast with a quickness if your not very careful.
The other challenge was there was not a real stage. This was a church and all the bands performed on the alter which was maybe 2-3ft off the floor. I really struggled with my shooting positions on this show . I was very hesitant to stand and shoot from in front of the first row.. I could’ve done that, and I’m sure some other photographers would have….but I knew if I did, I’d block everyone’s view in the whole church. I didn’t feel right at all about doing that.. So I tried to shoot everything from a kneeling position at the front of the “stage” and if I was off to the side then I’d stand.
Overall I was pretty happy with the images I came away with.. hope you like them too.
