I finally covered my very first Hip-Hop show.. Hip-Hop == Hard. Lecrae’s Rehab tour came to town and I thought this might be a fun show to cover. It was & I had a great time!
Artists included: Canon, Thi’sl, Andy Mineo a.k.a. C-Lite & Lecrae.
Opening the evening was Aaron McCain….a.k.a. Canon.
Canon caught me totally off guard, I had no idea rappers were so frenetic on stage.
Thinking about the show later, it reminded me a little of how hard Family Force 5 goes after it. At least with Family Force 5, they seem to stay on their dedicated part of the stage. Canon was all over the place.
At first he seemed to be moving just a bit faster then I could compose and shoot, but around his second song I was able to catch up. This was one of those shows that just longed for a camera like the D700 & D3.
I was shooting my D7000, ISO 3200 F2.8 and only getting around 1/160; that coupled with Canon’s movement, very low lighting, and my 70-200 made for a challenge indeed.

All of the guys on the tour were so nice. It was an honor for me to have the opportunity to photograph the show and share them with others.
I can’t do what they do, but always hope that God might use my small talent to help get the word out about these artists drawing others to them to be ministered to. The world needs more men like Canon, Thi’sl, Andy & LeCrae !
